Amberhour is designed to keep relationship memory visible and editable. Onboarding requires you to confirm you are 18 or older before any character or chat becomes available; no birthdate or ID is collected, only that confirmation.
What is stored: a private account identifier, your adult confirmation and AI-sharing choices, the nickname you enter, your selected companion and scene, messages and AI replies, relationship memories, structured report categories, and purchase/entitlement records from Apple through RevenueCat. We also store technical session details, including your IP address and information your browser or app sends about its software (user-agent), when provided, to operate and secure your account session. No email, phone number or social login is required to start; a nickname is sufficient. Text rejected by the input filter is not sent to the model or stored as a chat turn. Chat content is not sold or used for advertising or ad targeting.
Who processes it: Convex (backend database and function hosting), OpenAI (API) (generates the fictional narration and dialogue), RevenueCat (subscription and entitlement management), Apple (app distribution and In-App Purchase billing), Expo (EAS) (application build and release tooling).
AI sharing: before the first generated reply, we ask you to allow your messages, character/scene context and active memory summaries to be sent to OpenAI to generate replies. This can include personal information you choose to type. Requests are sent through the OpenAI API with storage for later retrieval turned off (store: false). OpenAI does not use API data to train its models by default, and may retain API data for up to 30 days for abuse and misuse monitoring. You can decline or stop future AI sharing in Settings. Withdrawal stops new AI requests; it cannot recall data already processed. Avoid sending sensitive personal information. Service providers may process operational information for security, abuse prevention and service delivery under their applicable terms.
Retention and deletion: content remains associated with your account until you request deletion or we remove it for an operational or legal reason. We do not currently promise automatic deletion after an inactivity period. Editing or forgetting a memory removes it from active use; prior versions may remain in restricted recovery/audit records until account deletion. Request deletion in Settings to quarantine the account immediately. It remains recoverable for 7 days, after which scheduled batches remove app data and request removal of the associated RevenueCat record. Completion can take longer during service failures; the account remains quarantined while required removal is pending. To prevent a restored purchase from receiving extra replies, a pseudonymous hashed purchase reference, original allowance start and current-month reply count may remain until that monthly allowance resets. This limited counter contains no chats, relationships, account ID or raw receipt; it can be matched if that purchase is restored. Apple may retain transaction records under its own obligations. Your rights: you can view, correct and delete your memory timeline inside the app at any time, and delete the whole account from Settings. Depending on where you live you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your data, and to object to certain processing — including under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation. Information may be processed outside your country by the providers listed above. We use access controls and protected connections, but no service can guarantee absolute security. We update this policy when the service or its data handling changes and request a new choice before materially expanding AI sharing.
Deleting the app or requesting account deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage renewal in your App Store account.
